Atento,
the second son of Allende, surprised us by inheriting the very long,
soft wool and heavy bone structure of his paternal great-grandfather,
Macho Camacho. We named Atento for his “gentlemanly” demeanor as a
“cria” (llama baby) and he has stayed true to his name. He is gentle
and comfortable with people. Kids love to lead him. He is our only
llama who prefers to stroll, rather than hike, so he’s not in the pack
string. But he's a good mentor for younger llamas and a sweetheart to
be around. (1998)
