Caminando

Caminando, a happily retired pack llama

Caminando is half guanaco—a cousin of the llama. He came to us in 1997 from another commercial pack string and was one of our string’s founding members. We understand he got his start as a 4-H llama. In 2000, we noticed some mild respiratory noises after a long day as we approached the base camp on a Kings Peak trip, so we decided to retire him from all but light duty at age 15. He still does day hikes and helps us train younger llamas. He’s always out front ready for action whenever a coyote or some new sight happens along. He’s enjoying a well-earned retirement here at Rosebud Llamas Utah. (1985)
