Rosebud
Llamas Utah offers fully-catered pack trips in three unique areas of the state--the San Rafael Swell,
the South Unit
of the Ashley National Forest, and Browns Park on the Green River. With
your
input on interests, we make all the arrangements--all you have to do is
gather
your gear and meet us at a designated rendezvous. We provide and
prepare
all meals (you select the menu). Our
trips are generally three days with a
maximum
group size of four. We--the owners--plan and guide all trips
ourselves. Pack trips are arranged by appointment so contact us with
the dates that will work for you and we'll do our best to accommodate
you. Detailed

The
San Rafael Swell
, a one million acre uplift slightly southeast of the center of Utah,
is
one of the state's most impressive and least known geological
wonderlands.
Over time, wind and water have carved out the interior, leaving deep
canyons,
enormous rock walls, arches, and pinnacles. Prehistoric rock art and a
rich
history shared around the campfire enhance the experience. Ancient
Fremont
Indians and Butch Cassidy are believed to have both used one of our
favorite
campsites. Our pack trips in the
Swell take you along the San
Rafael River. Good campsites can be reached with very little elevation
gain.
There are options for day hikes from the base camp ranging from
leisurely
to challenging.
Adults $550; children
8-13 $425

The
Ashley National
Forest's
South Unit offers a beautiful
forested
setting. It lies south of Hwy 40 in Wasatch and Duchesne Counties. The
South
Unit includes 200,000 acres of high desert mountains and canyons with
great
camping, hiking, hiking, bird and wildlife watching, wildflower
viewing,
stands of bristlecone pine and other conifers, quaking aspens, and
more--all
with almost no visitation besides an occasional rancher or sheepherder
tending
their stock.
A llama pack trip in the South
Unit
of the Ashley NF is
astoundingly solitary.
Yet, most trailheads are from 3-4 hours from Salt Lake City and 1-2
hours
from Rosebud Llamas Utah's home-base. Because of this proximity, we
have
explored and developed a number of route options.

Browns
Park llama pack trips take
you to an area with a rich history of Indians, fur trappers, trading
posts,
and outlaw hideouts. The Park is a deep mountain valley, lying on a
long
bend in the Green River where Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming meet. We camp
on
the Green River, the central feature of the Park, enjoying
fabulous
scenery, an optional day hike to an historic outlaw hideout, and
excellent
fly fishing! You can also visit a restored Old West ranch or the Browns
Park
National Wildlife Refuge before or after your time with us.
Adults $550;
children 8-13 $425
