We do not
rent our llamas.
First, although we have yet to have an accident involving an injury to
a llama (or a person, for that matter) or other incident requiring
special knowledge of llamas or their care, we want to be around to take
the necessary action, should the need arise. Second, why should they
have all the fun of going on trips into these wonderful areas while we
stay home?
We do offer two
options besides fully-catered trips: Backpacker
Support and Drop Camps.

Backpacker
Support Trips with Rosebud Llamas Utah provide you with most of the same services as
our fully-catered llama pack trips
except that you bring and prepare your own meals. You may also want to
do more of your own planning in terms of layover day activities,
although we are still willing to help, from providing suggestions to
guiding you. We provide the llamas, llama packs, and take care of the
animals.
Prices for Backpacker Support Llama Trips vary
depending on the weight of your gear. The per day base rates for the
San Rafael Swell and Browns Park are $110 per adult and $90 per child
aged 8-13. Base rates assume 25 pounds of gear per person and a maximum
of 50 pounds of gear weight per llama. Excess weight needs to be
declared in advance so we can bring additional llamas ($40 per day per
llama). Maximum group size is generally four.
When: Same as the seasons for our fully-catered llama pack trips in our three
permit areas, respectively. Backpacker Support trips are arranged by
appointment.

Drop
Camps are
available only in the South Unit of the Ashley National Forest. For
Drop Camps, we can either meet you at the appointed trailhead or you
can stop at Rosebud Llamas Utah enroute--we're right on the way to the
South Unit. We transport the llamas, pack and load your gear on them,
and accompany you to your base campsite. You enjoy the area on
your own until the appointed time when we and the llamas return, pack
you up, and bring you out. We can recommend numerous areas and trails
in the South Unit, all of which are accessed within one-to-two hours of
our ranch.

of 50 pounds of your gear per llama. Maximum group size is generally
six, but arrangements for an extra person or two may be possible,
depending on the area, gear weight, and length of the trip.
When: Drop Camps are arranged by appointment, April 15 -
September 30.
