Utah Community Center for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Visits

A Farm Visit at Rosebud Llamas Utah is a specially designed outing, tailored to meet the needs and desires of the visiting group. The idea originated in 1998 in discussions with Active Re-Entry, an independent living center for people with disabilities in Price and Vernal, about their Summer Recreation Program. The hope was to give Active Re-Entry consumers a unique experience involving enjoying the outdoors in our canyon environment while learning about and spending time with llamas. We put together an activity of about four hours that included a basic information about llamas--their various uses, ool, etc.--a nutritious lunch at our picnic tables, and--everyone's favorite--time spent feeding treats to the llamas and taking them for short walks.

Since then, we have welcomed various groups--from families to groups of 30--for three- to four-hour  interactive, educational experiences with our llamas. For example, besides consumers from Active Re-Entry, the llamas have welcomed the staff and volunteers of the Governors Council for People with Disabilities, a group of survivors of a World War II German concentration camp, and most recently, 17 children and their 10 adult companions from the  Community  Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Taylorsville. We also have an overnight camp-out option for groups of up to 10 and our guest house can sleep up to 12.

Our standard llama farm visit activities and rates are as follows:

Farm visit. A 3- to 4-hour, on-site activity, including lunch; interactive, educational presentations on your choice of topics (wool, packing, other uses, etc.); feeding treats to the llamas; and a short, optional walk with them. Prices: Adults $30, children under 18 $25.

Overnight camping experience. A 24-hour, on-site activity that includes the above activities, plus a cook-out, campfire, fishing on the premises, an optional longer hike with llamas, and breakfast. Prices: Adults $70, children under 13 $55.

We are open to your ideas. If you or your group or organization has an idea for a farm visit that looks different from what we've described, please email or call us and tell us what you're thinking. We and the llamas are all quite flexible. We have the option of doing group day activities in the nearby Ashley National Forest (understanding that accessibility issues exist). The District Ranger is open to ways the Forest can be used to meet the needs of groups. There's no end to the possibilities for pleasurable experiences when llamas and great outdoor settings are involved!

Please call for special rates for organizations serving low-income groups.

Our barn, corrals, picnic and restroom facilities, and home are all wheelchair accessible.
